I'm in the market for a new (to me) Sea Doo and want to know what the most reliable model for a $3-4k (maybe up to 5 if it's really nice) budget is (Southern California). For reference, I have owned a '95 WaveBlaster 701, a '96 WaveRaider 1100, and an '01 Sea Doo RX DI 951 and took meticulous care of them but I've finally decided to move to a 4-stroke. Any input on what to look out for would be great, it will be my first 4-stroke ski.

First figure out what type of riding you'll be doing and go from there.

Compare your question to motorcycle buying..."what's the most reliable model for $3-4k?"

I could recommend a dirt bike when you want to cruise or vise versa.

Generally, any 4 stroke, non supercharged model will be reliable. The GTI is a good overall generic, all purpose ski.

Here's an OK deal...the price is a bit high (should be around $4,000), but it has very low hours.

Thanks for the info, I love doing high speed morning dawn runs through the bay but also want something that's manageable for friends/family to ride. No freshwater near me and I don't plan on going to the ocean at all. I love the GTIs and GTXs but also was looking at an RXP. Will the supercharger will need a fair amount of service and such/do you have any experience with them?

I don't personally have experience with supercharged skis, but follow information about them on other sites. Generally, pre 2017 models need to have the supercharger rebuilt every 200 hours (minimum) or every 2 years, whichever comes first. Failure to do so is risking permanent engine damage.
