Hello all,

So I managed to get my hands on a 1995 Seadoo HX last year at the end of the summer, this is my first time owning a jetski and was also my first time being on a jetski. I only managed to get out on a local lake once but plan on getting out a lot this year. I had a few questions about this particular ski and just some general questions.

1- what type of daily and yearly maintenance should be getting done?

2-any tips when it comes to riding this type of ski?

3- how does it handle out in bays/ocean?

4-what should I do after running in saltwater?

5-is there any manuals for it that I can buy or download?

6-best place to get accessories/any recommended accessories to get?

I know as a first timer this might have been a little too much at first but I thought I handled my first time pretty well and I’ve fallen right in love with it. Also if there’s anyone from the northern New Jersey area or the jersey shore that wants to show me around I don’t know a lot of people yet that have jetskis!37DF9DF2-190B-498A-BF47-0900B57F2276.jpeg8D1A2CF3-575F-49BA-A0C8-A0E1411F8680.jpeg7005E867-5E86-4E86-80B3-335579051F40.jpeg

If you don't know the history of the ski I'd say you should go through the fuel system, carb(s), fuel lines, fuel strainer, and selector valve. Rather than running the risk of it running lean, or acting up on you during a ride.

Oil filter, and replace the small 3/32 lines, verify the correct oil is being used as well.

I'd also check compression even though you said it ran good, just to see the health of the motor.

Service the pump accordingly, change oil and such. Could probably use a new wear ring for the season to get set straight, you're looking for a paperthin gap between the impeller and wear ring.

Running in salt water you'll definitely want to flush the motor after each ride, doesn't need to be longer than 30 seconds when doing so or you'll risk burning up the carbon seal. Some people apply different films into the engine bay to help with the corrosive salt water. Although I ride in freshwater so I can't recommend any products for you.

I'd say practice deep water boarding before you venture out too far as that can you into some tricky situations. We don't get much chop in the lakes in TN but, with the sharp V hull on the HX I'd say you should fair well.

OSDmarine for carbs, seadoowarehouse for your oem parts, I've used procaliber for my purchases.

You should be able to find a pdf of the service on your ski for free online.

All correct and welcome to the HX family. SaltAway is great after salt water riding and fluid film on the engine.

perfect I will definitely go over it really well and do all of the above, I also forget to mention that the owner thankfully used top quality oil and converted it over to premix. Thank you for the help!

I hope the kept oil fed to the rotary gear or you will ruin the engine. You can't just remove the tank and convert to premix on these. I see the tank so hopefully it is still connected. You are better off keeping the stock oil system as they don't fail.

And you need to be using API-TC oil not TCW-3.
