Battery (general questions)

So I now know (thanks to another thread) I need a battery tender for long periods of storage.

How about offseason? How often do you buy a new battery? Do you just take out your battery when you winterize and keep it charged during the winter?

My battery looks brand new.

I usually take the battery out and fully charge it slowly, remove the charger and once it warms up again I'll charge it again slowly. This year I'll be doing a motorcycle, jet ski, and jet boat battery, so I bought a charger that has a slow charge of I believe 1A and a higher charge of 5A.
