Bailers Workin????

How do i know if my bailers are workin???

Make sure the little white plastic pieces are on your venturis in your pump, make sure the hoses and pickups arent clogged, and that they are lightly zip tied or connected to the top of the inside of your hull.

You got water problems?

I've never been impressed with the bailers. I have bilge pumps in both of my skis. The 96XP had one in it when I bought it, I think it was factory installed. I added one to the 96GTI, a Rule 500 PWC, it was an easy installation, just wired it directly to the battery, with a fuse and a switch. The 96XP was wired to only be on when the ski was running, I changed it to be connected to the battery also.

I leave my skis in the water usually for up to two weeks at a time. I have solar battery maintainers that I use and the batteries have always stayed charged.

I spent somewhere between 50-60, pretty cheap insurance.

You can blow through the tubes to make sure they are not clogged, check to see that they are tied up to near top of the hull, and that the siphon tubes are attached at the venturi. If those three things are ok, then they should be working fine.

agreed the bailer don't work well, but they DO work. my gf left the boat plug out of my 92gts, and it was sitting up to the driveshaft in water. 10 min later, it was back to normal

That's true and if I didn't leave my ski in the water for extended periods I wouldn't need the bilge pump. The bailers don't work at all if the ski is not moving.

When you have the machine in the water, under the water, and every other way, a bilge will be required or it WILL begin to get full.

I ran the ski for about an hour and had about a half a gallon of water in the hull...i was riding kinda hard and fell off once...got it on the trailer and pulled the drainplug and the water started to pour out...i need too look into where its comin from or just from ridin

Actually that sounds about normal, especially if you're riding hard. I've got a 96XP that appears to have a factory bilge pump, it works great at getting rid of the water. As ski's age, seals shrink, my GTI takes a lot of water through the hood.

Anyway I don't want to get on a soap box, but both of my ski's have bilge pumps, and they really do a great job of getting rid of the water. My situation maybe unique because I do leave the ski's in the water for extended periods, sometimes 2 weeks. But bilge pumps are cheap insurance for any ski.

Water can get in through the hood, the main air inlet vents and the seat may also have venting in it. Other then that it shouldnt take on water.
Make sure theres an o ring on the drain plug. Mine was cracked so I replaced it with a new one.
