Hey guys,

Just got back from up north and jetskied alot, bboth ran well for the most part... except for the 1st time that i jumped on the spi, put the key in, pressed start button, nuthing happened, no click or anything, battery was dead, but its brand new this season! Jetski sat for 6 weeks before last being used... so im figuring the rectifier is bad correct? Doesnt make sence that that battery died, but the gts battery didnt?

Other then that, everything was ok, spi started easy after i put a diff. battery in, and gts started ok...only thing I dont like about the spi, after i ride it really hard, the front compartment gets filled with water, and I had my registration in there:ack: That was soaked and in peices, so im gonna have to go to the secretary of state and get a new registration

but usualy, if its a bad rectifier, you wont get top end speed rite? She runs great and doesnt bog at all, which leaves me a little confused:confused:

Bad Battery????

Do you think that the battery was bad? Maybe had a defective charge plate or something!! Take it to Autozone and have it checked. I would think that a bad rectifier would affect more that top end.
Both of my SPX gets water in the hull when my Son and Son-in-laws trick ride. I think it may be the seal on the front compartment hood.

I have a different battery in it now, ill try to start it in a few weeks, if it starts then it must of just been the battery, if not, then theres some kind of problem.. i'll keep ya posted

Thanks, I had the same issue with one of my 94's. Ended up being one of the posts was detached internally. I bought a gel battery. I love these things. They are in all my skis now.

I was gunna buy a gel battery, but no one had them localy, So i was gunna order it online, but i needed the battery ASAP so I just went with an acid one... Next time for sure ill go with gel(sealed)
