Thats insane! How much was the install? I used to compete in usaci and was the texas state champ for loudest SPL car 2004-2006. 156 decibels with 1 300 watt amp. I've thought about putting a sound system in my challenger but im kind of tired of box building/installing. Hence why i quit in 06. So your amps just draw the power straight from the batterys? Are the optimas also wired to the stock battery?

The amps draw current from the 2 optimas and are wired in place of the stock battery. The alternator charges the optimas, but I allways charge the batteries fully the night before going out. The alternator just keeps up. I added a watertight charging port and voltage guage to help monitor the system. I am currently trying to post a youtube video of a walk around of the system. Search seadoo sppedster audio system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke2T1NMDM1Q

I did the install myself!!! I also, have been building systems for ever. My truck is much better. But this is not bad for the lake.

Holy Crap. When too much is jussst right

I bet that sounds awesome. I would really like to add another set of speakers on my boat. Who does that kind of work on boats though? I don't think you can take a boat to best buy can you?

texasmojo,

You know anyplace that could add a set of speakers to the front area of the boat? Something simple just to get some music to the people up front when driving. Ideally I'd like to use the same speakers or brand as the ones in the back so it looks 'factory'.

I love your install. Great job even the shops couldnt do better.

Robertm, yes there is a shop called earmark in lewisville. Its behind lewisville ford dealership. They do awesome custom installs but im sure they also charge a high rate. If you just want to install a second set of matching speakers i would do it myself if i were you. The factory head unit has the 2 pairs of speaker wires ready for an extra pair of speakers. My stock clarion headunit even has a pair of RCA outputs for an amp, im sure yours does too. My challenger came with stock white clarion speakers. I swapped mine out with some polk audio because the clarions were beat up from the sun already. They still work great and look new with the covers if you want them you can have them free. As for installing, its just a matter of running some speaker cable and having guts to cut the hole in the fiberglass. I'd do it with a jigsaw. Im sure darthspeed can chime in here with some cutting advice:hurray:

Thanks for the nice comments. On cutting; just measure and re-measure and make sure you are not cutting the hole too large. It would be a mess if the speaker fell thru the hole. But, anyways.......I use a jig saw as well and if the hole needs a little adjusting I use a dremel tool with a grinding stone on it. On my tweeters, I flush mounted them by cutting holes with a 2" hole saw bit and again slightly increased the hole size with a dremel tool. The only problem is the dust........it's very fine and always use a mask. I didn't have a problem cutting into my boat for the system. I have a lot people at the lake say thats what they want in there boat. It leads then into.....want to sell it. So I don't think it hurts the resale or the like.

The remote control I have is from Alpine and is uhf, it can operate up 300 ft. away. We can change songs, volume from the beach, dock, etc. and really the boat is a floating boom box!!!:hurray:

Were you able to view the walk around video?? That was the first youtube post I have ever done. I may add more on "how to" etc. or maybe a tube ride or ????????

Waht size is your sub, and how did you fully enclose it without having the speaker showing, or the box ported? Very awesome system by the way!

The subs are 10", and the box has an internal volume of .66 cu/ft as specified by Polk Audio. The speaker is sealed, not ported. There is a box slid in from the engine compartment and was covered in a bed liner rubber material to keep water or moisture from causing the wood to get weak and leak air presuure. The sub was surface mounted from the front and screwed into the box. Everything was sealed with silicone. The subs are very tight and go extremely low around 20 hz. I can post some better pictures if you would like.

Check out the last picture of my first post. The picture is of the sub box, looking in from the engine compairment. That is the best picture I can take without taking the sub box out. As you can see it was somewhat difficult to install without the help from a buddy. I like free air subs "ok" but not really my choice. I like the sub to have it's on enclosure to keep the speaker under control and the bass tight and low. These subs are not the best out there but there for marine use so I tried them. They can however go to 20 hz which is low enough for me. They don't sound too bad, for the money, they suprised me really!! But if you can't make a box, that would be the next choice.

How are batteries setup?

How are the batteries setup? Are they both starter, or is one starter and the other deep cycle for Amps, Stereo, etc?

Also are the batteries wired in parallel, or series?

Thanks for the info? Greg

The batteries are wired in parallel and drive everything; so the boat sees 12 volts. In the process I get a little more creanking amps. If the batteries were wired in series the voltage would be 24 and everything would fry!!! I have toyed with the idea of using a battery isolator, using one for the engine and one for audio, but no problems with charging etc. so I think I will leave as is for now.

remove handle to mountthe stereo??

How can you remove the handle to mount the stereo?

The metal bolt plates are hard to remove from the fiberglass, and the plates are in the way of where the stereo needs to be mounted.

If the plate can be removed somehow, it would be simple to move the handle up.

well I got my stereo cover installed the same way..really wasn't that hard!
Looks great!

Amp, or NO Amp??

I am getting ready to add my deck and speakers and I am going to start out with ( 2 ) 5.25" and ( 2 ) 6x9".

If my deck is putting out a supposed 50 watts x 4, would I need an amp to drive my highs?

I have an extra Sony amp from previous car set-up and I am wondering if I should go thru the trouble
of installing it for highs.

I will eventually put a hidden sub ( 10" or 12" ) in the boat with an amp driving it, so 2 amps may
be a little bit too much draw on my one battery set-up. I only have one batt. because of space limitations
in the 99 Speedster.

Would like you opinions. Thanks

We'll I would trying the head uints internal power, however I don't think it will be enough. The reason I say that I have noticed when driving the boat on the water there is a lot of wind noise and you really have to crank the volume to hear the music. If you listen to music at the beach or at the dock then I think you would be ok. I would look for a class D amp as they use less amperage draw.

The song??? I can't remember I will look at it again see if I can figure it out.

Tresvatos1- What are those blue lights on the back of your boat?? Can you see those when your in the water???

I got the song..it's lifehouse..first time. I have a whole discussion n the blue lights in a seperate thread! Thanks
