I Have a 1992 xp and I got this thing to run I fine. It will start when I first put it in the water, and it will run fine all day as long as I dont turn it off. But if I turn it off to change riders or refuel it wont pop off. if I put it on the trailer and pull it out of the water and turn it over to get the water out of the block, it starts. Does anyone know why this is happening. Could my battery be to small or something?

The needle in the carb(s) is leaking, and flooding the engine. (I'm assuming it re-starts after it sits for a while)
Pull the carbs and give them a cleaning. If the needle and seat looks OK... look at the diaphragm. If the little metal nipple isn't anodized red... buy new OEM Mikuni diaphragms. (not aftermarket)
