Andytach gps speedometer

The speedo in my Challenger 2000 quit working the first season I owned it (going into my third season with the boat now). I have had problems with every 'normal' speedo I've ever had on a boat, whether pitot or paddlewheel, so I started looking for alternatives. Originally my plan was simply to buy a cheap handheld gps, mount it where I could see it and be done with it, but when I started searching I discovered the new generation of replacement gps based speedometers. Most were Upwards of $300 or more, but I stumbled on the Andytach product for $145 for the size that would directly replace the unit in my C2K. Ordered it online and received it very quickly (such a pleasure to order from a company right here in Canada!). Install was extremely easy; the unit mounts exactly the same way as the original; screw the backing ring off the oem unit, unplug the wiring connector, remove, replace with the new unit, connect power and ground (I used male spades into the original plug for simplicity), mount the gps antenna (I mounted mine just in front of the driver's windscreen) and run the cable back under the storage bin under the windscreen to the back of the speedo, and done. The unit has a black outer ring like the original gauges, but has a black face. Still looks very good in the panel.

I only have about 10 minutes of running so far, but initial impressions are great; seems very responsive to changes in speed, and started reading as soon as I started moving, right down to walking pace. The unit displays speed, "odometer" and direction. I like it, and it was no more expensive than replacing the original sensor, was easier to do, and will provide more information with greater accuracy than the original. Not to mention eliminating the recurring failures that the original unit provides on a regular basis. So far so good!

If you want more info, you can find them on ebay or on their own website at www.andytach.com. No, I have no direct or indirect connection to this company other than paying full price for their product.

That looks great and at a very reasonable price, I think I'm going to order one for my boat (not a SeaDoo), thanks for the heads up.

The Speedo in my 1997 Challenger quit working too. So I read this post and looked them up. They were out of the black ring type so I went with the chrome ring with Red night time readout for $152.00 shipped to me. It was easy to install but of course I made it more complicated….. I decided to move things around and am glad I did.
I moved the Fuel/Oil gauge to the old Speedo Location (Left upper console) and put the Andytach Speedo in the Fuel Gauge Location (center steering console). This took some doing but I can watch my speed while I’m pull Skiers/Boarders around and watch the fuel/oil while were playing. The hunt did not stop there, I also found some more Gauges to buy that will match the style of my Boat (old), new programmable Fuel (uses old baffles), Clock (to round it out) and RPM gauges. All these gauges you can order with matching upgrades (http://www.speedhut.com/). So thank a lot and I just love this gauge.
O…. I got about 16hours on it and almost 60 miles (odometer included, so is direction)

Would you happen to have a picture of your setup and how is the speedometer working for you. I noticed my original was not working when I bought the boat but when i got home I noticed the cable is cut so its no good. I'm looking for an alternative
