Ok what I have is a 97 xp that I had rebuilt last season. My concern is that the guy who I had rebuild it did not change the gasket where the carbs sit on the intake manifold and the fuel lines between the two carbs are clear so when I start up the ski I can see some air bubbles in the lines. My question is can the air in the lines hurt the engine?

No, it will not hurt the engine. Since the carbs use a retuning fuel system... it will just purge it out once it starts.

As far as the base gaskets go... If they didn't rip, and they aren't hard as a rock... you will be fine. It's not the proper thing to do... but I've been guilty of doing the same thing.

Determine if its leaking.
While motor is idling spray carb cleaner on the junction. If the idle rises, you have an air leak.

Also spray around all the motor seams if you did not pressure test, I use wd40 in a shampoo bottle to help troubleshoot these nagging problems, if it does leak you will be removing and resealing a lot more than carbs.
