So i was thinkin about gettin an aftermarket flame arrestor kit(R+D power plenum)but am skeptical about carburetor adjustments...What would i have to change???(jetting or pop off pressure)...if its pop off pressure would it have to be higher or lower than stock? Also this flame arrestor says it will fit a 97 xp...it should fit my 95 xp because the carbs are the same layout right?

1) Generally, you will lower pop-off. BUT... who knows until you take it out for the first ride. (You will need to bring tools, and you will be removing the carbs at the lake to make the adjustments)

2) A different flame arrestor won't do anything on it's own. It will only support other mods.

3) The OEM air box will flow more air than the engine can use, and it will keep water out of the engine WAY better. (It's safer for recreational use)

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks doc for your input...the ski is runnin great...i guess i will skip it because its got no other mods plus i TRUST your input! Thanx again:thumbsup:

just curious why you were thinking of replacing the flame arrestor if you arent having any problems?

i stick to the wise saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Thanks for trusting what I say. And, just as an FYI... "Factory Pipe" recommends the OEM air box when you install one of their pipes... and they get an extra 20 HP out of the 720 engine. If the OEM air box was lacking... they would recommend changing it.

The best bang for the buck is either a "factory pipe" pipe, or a new impeller.

The factory pipe looks a bit thin...i gonna be using it for recreational use and i heard they get really hot...What do you think doc? Would there have to be jetting or pop off changes on a factory pipe?
