Hello all, I was looking into maybe removing and deleting the airbox that is on my all stock 2012 GTI 130. I had seen some videos and read a little bit on it and some say that it can increase fuel efficiency and even improve your top speed. I understand that I may need to flash the ECU to the new intake, but I just was wondering if anyone has tried this or is interested it and wants to share their opinion. All comments are welcome. Thank you for the help in advance!

Well, a stock air box is insulated to make the intake more quiet, not allow water ingestion, cool the rectifier, as well as to pull from a cold air source. The air around the motor is very hot, like 160F. The stock intakes are not all that restrictive, especially if you have a 130. That motor is already detuned, so even at WOT your intake is not in any way limiting. Aside from more noise, I don't think you'd see any gains.

For best fuel economy, you want to maintain the ski on plane where teh engine isn't working very hard. I think 5-5500 rpm is optimal for that boat.

Okay! Thanks for the information!
