Adding a Horn

After having two people cut across my bow yesterday, I have decided to add a horn. I think I'm going to mount it behind the intake grill, and use a motorcycle horn. Since it would be impractical to mount the switch on the handle bars, I am planning to mount a SP momentary contact switch on the left side of the dash.

My question is this, I'm not sure how much amperage this would draw and if I would need a relay in series, I plan on connecting it directly to the battery with a fuse. Has anyone out there done this or have any ideas?

I would appreciate the help.

ride up beside them and express your displeasure ;)
the (safe option) is to yes put a relay on it. typical horn use would be short bursts?? so it would never be on long enough for the wires to get hot, as long as they arent like speaker wire ect. another safe option would be to just use high enough rated components to handle the current drawn by the horn.

Thanks for the info., but after thinking about it, not finding a suitable place to mount the horn, etc. I have decided to go with plan "B", my wife bought me a small air horn that I can keep in my pocket. She found it at the dollar store, can't beat the price.

I saw the air horns at the Dollar Store yesterday. You can't beat the price even if you buy one per year!
