Hi,

I want to install a Rule PWC Automatic bilge pump to my 96GTI.

I would like to know the best place connect the power? I was thinking to the battery with an inline fuse.

Also should there be a seperate manual switch?

The ski is usually kept out of the water, however I do leave it in the water for sometimes a week of more left unattended, this is why I'm adding the pump.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yup direct to battery, with a fuse, and a switch is a good idea...although if you plan on keeping it on all time when its sitting you might want to buy another battery b/c those auto ones run like every 30 secs to see if there is water. a float style would be better, but they can be broken from the bouncing when riding.

Thanks, I didn't know that, I thought it had an internal float. I'll either exchange it for one with a float or keep the ski plugged into shore power, I have a battery maintainer.

Thanks,

Lou

I hooked bilge pumps with floats on my old sea doo's. I also have a battery tender tether to my batteries. What I did was bought an extra battery tender tether. I hooked it up to the bilge pump wires so when I am not charging the battery, I hook up the bilge tether to the battery tether. If I explained it right.... basiclly I have two quick connects, one on the bilge pump and one on the battery. they are always connected unless I want to put the charger on then it is an easy disconnect. I am probably not making sense.

Not for nothing but a float switch could get damaged, however they are installed in any type of sport boats as well with no problems as well. You could always use the type of float switches they use on the seadoo boats. I would personally run a rule bilge pump and attach a rule float switch then run a manual overide switch as well.

Thanks Guys,

I think I'll install the Rule automatic pump that I have, and leave it plugged into shore power when at the lake, and turned off when not. If I have a problem I'll rewire it for manual operation and put in a float switch.

Thanks,

Lou
