have a 07 gtx and rxt. disconnected both batteries for winter and installed today, but I did not notice that on gtx the posts are opposite. so I accidentally put pos with ground and vice versa. hit start button and dash lights up but thats it. checked battery cables and noticed, so crossed to proper position. and I get dash lights but no beeps. checked fuse boxes and all ok. I have no way of checking relays so did not touch those. still nothing check battery charge and at 11.8 my rxt is at 12.2 or 12.4 standing still. any suggestions or do I hang myself for a rookie mistake.

These things shit the bed when you jump start them the right way i can't imagine how unhappy yours is right now!

I took out both batteries to switch to see if by chance if not enuf current to start up and did nothing again. so I disconnected both again and leaving alone . hope the lack of power will let it reset when I connect again, if not shop here I come and rape my wallet....

Having the dash lights is kind of odd sounding to me. Did you notice any smoke or smell anything burning? If no you hopefully just fried the relay. You can get a volt meter that can check ohms from Home Depot for maybe 10 to 15 bucks. I'd start by checking the voltage regulator and relay. Check for continuity going in and out of each. If you have good continuity they are still good and your problem is else where.

there was no smoke or indicator that anything was wrong.

That hopefully is a good sign for you. Sounds like the diodes in the voltage regulator are probably shot. Fuses should all be ok (the don't care which direction current flows).

did you check both fuse holder locations? most likely you fried your ECU.
