I was on the trampolin practicing my back flip like i've done in the past when all of a sudden I landed wrong and broke my tibula in 5 places my fibula in 1 place and dislocated my ankle what a way to end my wakeboard season (not sure how to spell the names of the bones).

Slide,

Dude, I'm terribly sorry to hear about your injury!!! Did you land on the trampoline or jump off the tramp onto the ground?

I assume you had surgery?

Craig

a bad day

I landed on the trampolin but I started my rotaion to late and landed a little of to the side and I'm a solid 200 lb so it just snaped the bones. It happened at 5 pm and I was in surgery by 8:30 it took 2hrs a metal plate and a bunch of screws to get it back together. I did two perfect flips right before it happened, just bad luck. I could put a picture up but it might make some people sick to there stomachs

Please DO NOT...I hate that stuff!!

Heal my friend. Better days ahead....I've been where you are. Enjoy your pain meds.....Follow rehab and if you ever get down just remember that it is in fact temporary.

Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to at least drive the boat so my wife can keep practicing on the wakeboard because shes starting to get pretty good since we got aboat with a tower.

Dude, how old are you?

I was at a block party on Memorial Day weekend and the neighbors rented a huge inflateable slip and slide thingamabob. Anyway, I am 37, and the only adult playing on the thing, and started doing flips onto it, and next thing I know, I pull a hamstring and cannot walk (one week off from wakeboarding, is all I can think of!)

So, I am assuming that you have done these flips all your life, but are getting older and the old body isn't keeping up with you nowadays.

I feel for you..

Getting old

Yeh, as much as I hate to admit it I think its time to except the fact that I'm 35. I gave up motocross at 29 because a wreck that took a day to heal at 25 was taking a week to heal at 29. What sucks is that i've been wakeboaring for about 6years and never broke anything or even ben laid up for more than a day and than this happens when I'm trying to practice out of the water so I don't get hurt. I guess I have to hope for the best and maybe catch the end of the season [no back flips]

YUP--35 was a bad year.

Gained 20 lbs, heal slower, get hurt easier. But doesn't stop me from still trying to have fun:reddevil:

Well I'm 26 and I still can't do flips on my board. And my weight hovers between 165-170.

Don't I feel like a goon.
But hey. Nothing broke yet.

Anyways. Get well!

I feel your pain, just not as bad... Ive been boarding for about 3 years now, and when I first started Id practice on the trampoline etc, only to tweek my back or knees.. I figured out that as long as i slapped my helmet on and dropped the speed down to 15-17 to try new inverts Id be better off..
My new motto is when in doubt let go of the rope and dive in.. no need to be macho, (26 yrs) I just do my best to brace for impact....
Wish you a speedy recover and some wicked scares to brag about!

Wow I'm 40 and just started learning to wakeboard. Late comer:ack:
I'm lucky to stay up little alone do a flip.

My mom had an accident couple years ago where she fell weird and compressed 3 disk in her spine and was paralized from the neck down for awhile then got some movment back. spent over a year in the hospital just getting better and walking again then had and operation to replace the disks, so it was a LONG road to recovery. she can walk and do everthing fine now and is very lucky to be able to walk again but has to be very carefull. your lucky you didnt land on your head. drink LOTS of milk to make them bones strong. I drink milk like its going out of style and seem to keep me from breaking bones LOL. Dont beat yourself up to much all you can do is play the hand your delt, Hope you have a fast recovery man  PM me the pics if i find the xrays of my moms deal ill post them

Sounds like the majority want to see pics so I'll try to get to the computer some time tonight I can't post pics with my phone I can only type.

Ouch, glad its you and not me bud. Get better soon. Bright side, you can still ride on the boat!
