Hi Folks

As the title reads above I have a few issues that I would really appreciate your opinions on, I will give a brief history of what has gone on so far.. I replaced the rotary drive gear on the engine and it ran like new for a few hours then I noticed a clanking sound and turns out three of the engine mounts were shot.. Question 1 , Are these repairable IE epoxy resin or similiar,,

Problem 2, The next time I ran the machine it started great and ran fine for a minute or two then it would not rev out at all, it would keep ticking over and got me back to shore. then it starts fine and revs out fine on the trailer and does the exact same when I take the machine out again,, I would be fairly good at engines and it seems like an eletcrial fault.. I have tested the MPEN unit and it failed on the black/red to coil test plus a couple of the other resistance tests,, seems like it may be shot.. can these skis be run with the MPEN disconnected as it only seems to control the timer circut , the kill switch circut. from my reading of the circut diagram the power from the magneto goes direct into the Ignition coil and the MPEN only kills. Seems like a scam that this unit is non servicable and cost 200 euros to replace when I can design a simple system to kill the ski when the laynard is pulled ..

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated

1) Nope. You will need to buy new ones.

2) Nope. On the 800 engine... the CDI has a digital "Handshake" with the MPEM.

Reving a ski on the trailer can't tell you anything, since there isn't a load on the engine. Normally, with what you are telling me... your compression could be very low. Please get us some compression numbers before we chase the electrical.

Sorry my profile shows an 800 this is incorrect and it is 720 rotax which has no digital handshake with the CDI. I have tried to change this to no avail. Also the front cylinder has 130 psi and real cylinder is 140 psi.. i only say it an electrical fault as when you ride it it bursts back to life every now and again. Also if you hit the start button while its running badly it revs out fine as long as the button is pressed in.. The black red feed from the MPEN is in a permanent negative state so I had to disconnect this from the coil to get the ski to run,, I presume as in most 2 stroke machines the power coming from the stator plate to the coil is sufficient to run the machine , IE its possible to run the machine with no battery connected.. On a further note it has never blown any of the MPEN fuses but it has been jumpstarted from another battery.

regards
