I have a few small questions regarding my machine- Can anybody help me?

1. I'm going to restore the handlebar cover. Is removal as simple as the 4 small bolts? or are there screws or clips I need to be aware of? (I don't want to break it)

2. Regarding impellers and intake grates, What combinations are best (impeller and grate combo) for 1. all around performance, 2. low end and 3. high end?

3. My inline screw on fuel filter has been bypassed with another inline filter, and the screw on one has no filter. Is it ok to leave it just with the inline filter?

4. I just replaced the tempo lines, and the ski was running with the classic blocked fuel symptoms. Do I need to clean the carb fuel filters? If that is the case, how do I get to them? (carb doesn't need a rebuild as it was rebuilt at a shop a week before I got it)

5. are there any alternatives to a RAVE retention spring that I could use? one of mine is broken and if possible a temporary fix would be great.

6. the vent tempo line at the front is hard to get to due to the foam insulation- any tips or do I have to cut it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my first ski and so far everyone on this forum has been fantastic to me :) thank you

1. I'm going to restore the handlebar cover. Is removal as simple as the 4 small bolts? or are there screws or clips I need to be aware of? (I don't want to break it) you have to pull back the trottle and start button cover. Then there are very small screws on the underside. Also, the choke cable will hold the lower cover. I just cut a small slot in the lower cover to pull out the cable. You can remove the cable, but it is a PITA. The slot does not hurt anything

The stock filter also traps water. You are fine for now but I would get the parts to make it work if you can. Otherwise no big deal

4. I just replaced the tempo lines, and the ski was running with the classic blocked fuel symptoms. Do I need to clean the carb fuel filters? If that is the case, how do I get to them? (carb doesn't need a rebuild as it was rebuilt at a shop a week before I got it) The internal filters are in the carbs so you have to remove and open them up. Download the Mikuni SBN manual. You will see them on their drawing. Did you also clean the fuel selector? If not, you need to.

5. are there any alternatives to a RAVE retention spring that I could use? one of mine is broken and if possible a temporary fix would be great.

6. the vent tempo line at the front is hard to get to due to the foam insulation- any tips or do I have to cut it? You do not have to replace this line. It is only a vent so it does not have the plugging issue. It can be changed but you have to get creative.

See my notes in bold above.

For question 6 : I found out you can take it off fairly easy by pulling it and twist in it . It has like a twist lock. When I was changing my gray fuel lines this one had me thinking the same (cut it ) or leave it , I tried pulling it but no luck but on my last attempt I pulled and started twisting left or right can't remember and it came right off and that's when I seen the twist lock or w.e is called at the end. Hope this helps

#1 5.5 mm for the nut removal on the handlebar cover

#2 Stock impeller and Grate (other's may chime in with intake grate suggestions)

#5 spring, i'm sure somebody has one they could send, i'll poke through my assorted BS bags.

Thank you both guys, you've been super helpful and I got the cover off and redid it with no troubles. Spimothy, thank you for the offer but I finally got my hands on one (from dubai!). Thanks for the help.

Order ONLY OEM gasket for the carbs. The aftermarket kits are not built well. Do not replace the pop off springs with the new springs you get in the kit. In many cases they are not calibrated correctly.

What is it doing? Where or when do you lose power?
