99gsx limited accelerator pump

Without the accelerator pump working it will be lean and have a bad flat spot off idle.

I have to ask a dumb question...how can you tell the difference from a bog or lean... I noticed when I started it up yesterday, I lower the ski into the water on the lift to cover the intake and let it warm up. I then pulled the choke and it wanted to die. I
Let it idle to clear it out then started to wrap it up. It seemed to get worse as time went on and would not be crisp through the throttle...sounded like bogging. Now WOT sounded good, but the transition was not crisp but idled well

I have an 01 GTS with a bog have to like pump throttle to get up to speed. Took carb off found broke line and the jet in it ,

After you fixed that line did it run better? Your post is the one to finally get me to trigger this one. Thanks

Rabid...if you want to eliminate that excel pump, cap the fitting on the bottom carb, order up a 1.5n/s assy, turn the ls screw to 1, and hs to 1.5 turns out from bottom. Also ordr a 75 67.5 pilot.....or, get some red fuel min from depot in the lawnmower section, and replace the broken line. Make she to re insert the restrictor(big end to carb)

Does it matter if it's on the end by the carb? You said big end toward carb. Mine was facing with the big end next to the pump. So I just flipped the line around

if it has not been tampered with then the jut probably left the factory next to the pump. I think if it were mine I would flip it back as it was stock.

If it is flat in the entire mid range that is not the accelerator pump.
The accelerator pump only works when you first stab the throttle.

!!!! You done good sir. Even with all my experience a few years ago I threw in the towel and bought a new carb for the wife's GTI and it has never ran so good.
Make sure you verify the correct jets and needle and seats in the new carbs as they aren't always correct for your exact model.

Where can you get a new carb from if I don't get the result I need. I did get the restrictor buy I have not put it in yet.

I fixed hole in line and put restrictor back in big end toward carb, maybe I'll need a new carb too?? See how it runs, have to pump throttle get to mid then jumps to full not a smooth scale from idle to full

Ok back on the trailer. Ran ski today put it full throttle did around half speed for 200 feet, still holding full it would take off for like 200 feet, did this pretty much the whole ride with a couple of stalls [emoji35]

Haha.... Being that I think you have a 720, get yourself a 1.5 n/s assy, 67.5 pilot and bend the excel arm outta the way. Turn low to 1, high to 1.5

I got the restrictor part from jess. It is a small plastic part.

With respect to the eBay carb, I would be afraid that the carb will have the same issues because of all the threads associated with carb problems.

I will report back when i get a chance to put the part in.

Can you purchase the green carb gasket material from McMaster Carr ?

Hello... I have good news for once. I finally was able to work on the ski. I added the restrictor to the inlet line of the accelerator pump and I kicked the ski over to see if I was getting fuel to the AP and I was. I then pulled the line from the discharge side and squeezed the throttle and it shot a bunch out. I then checked the brass fitting in the PTO carb and it was fine. The mag carb was clogged so I got out a foot of new line and attached it to the fitting at the carb for the brass sprayer and filled it with carb cleaner and blew the crap out of it. Today I took it out and it ran great!!!! I tried to get it to bog for a good hour and it would jump out of the hole with out any problems and also I tried it at a slower pace with no problems. If definitely was the missing restrictor valve that I was able to get from jess.

I would like to thank all the people who helped me with this project. I could not have done it without your help.

Two things I learned from this is...

Read all the posts because in every post even if it doesn't sound like it will help you . the post might have a piece of information that will get you to ask some questions that will get you get you headed in a different direction that will solve your problem.

And now for the big one...THERE IS NOTHING FREE ABOUT A FREE JET SKI....I'm in for $3000

Again thanks for the help!!! Now I pulled the 97 GTX on of the water to clean out the clogged carbs from the grey lines.

Rabid, Thank you for checking back in and giving detailed post about your results. Really helps others that might be experiencing the same issues when people post back their results in detail....

Just for additional info and knowledge. Your problem was most probably the clogged brass nozzle on the mag carb. The little restrictor jet is actually to slow the return of the a-pump to resting position so that it does not rob fuel and cause a stall during a dump of the throttle from WOT. I found this tid bit of information when I researched that little nozzle. I ran mine for a whole season with no issues without it after replacing those little fuel lines , but when I let off the throttle it went straight to idle. Now that I have found and reinstalled the brass jet, it comes down to fast idle and then slowly returns to normal idle.
