Just replaced the MPEM and bam it started right up. Went to the river and ran it for about 30 minutes and ran perfect. All the kill switches worked when I tried them. And started right up after shutting it off. Driving it back to the landing and it killed and wouldn't start. Checked the plugs and there is spark. I am recharging the battery right now. HOw can it be running to smoothly and all of a sudden just shut down and not restart? How do you test to see if a stator is bad?

NO... if the voltage was low... it would not make a spark, and that could be why the ski died. But... once the battery rested... the voltage could have come back enough to get a spark. It's just one thing to check.
If you can get a spark... did you check your compression? If you have a top-end give up... you will normally know... but a compression check can rule out a few things.
IF... the top-end is good... give it a shot of starter fluid, and see if it will start.
One other thing to check, is the rotary valve. The gears could have given out, and if it stops spinning... the engine will shut down.

I got it started. Here is what I did. Took the plugs out and unhooked th gas line in from the nipple on the carb. Turn the engine over without spark plugs for 30 seconds or so. Put spark plugs back in and it started right up. I didn't have the gas line to the carb connected when it started. Once started I hooked the line back up and ran it. It now starts instantly. Do you think it flooded out when I was driving it in the river. What would cause it to flood out? Does it need a new needle in the carb or a new Carb kit???
