That's is a low end sled shock I believe. Probably off a Formula 583 sled, LOL. I laughed the first time I saw the one on my HX
Nope, it's stock. Part # 291 001 244 matches the fiche for a 98 xpl.

I know, I was making a joke that they just walked to the skidoo shop and grabbed a shock off a sled when they started building the suspension for the HX and the 97+ XP.

Pretty funny how close they look the same, right?

Oh, haha yeah I've never worked on a sled before. Good to know.

There's no way a blown shock would cause that damage. I'm willing to bet the lower bolt wasn't in place for a ride or two.

Not much going on right now. Still waiting on parts. Found a few things locally to work on. I found a black hatch cheap. Need to find the float for it. I painted the grab handle with Fusion paint and found a extra nozzle I can work on while ski is still together. I got the nozzle home and pulled it apart and found the end of the bailer tubes were epoxied closed. I know this nozel came from a race boat. I was able to drill out the epoxy and now I am trying to figure out if I want to paint or powder coat it. Is there a reason to either?

If I remove the under seat plug, wouldn't that leave a huge hole for water to get into? How are people blocking off the intake tubes? What are they using?

Got the seat cover installed and partially put the seat back on. I think I like it. It turned out well. Just need to get it back together and get some graphics made.

So what does everyone think, black or yellow hatch cover?

You should paint that lower, gray hatch or find one from a DI. Black and yellow keeps these older skis looking new.

also I put an aluminum pitbike shock in my XPL. Weighs several pounds less and is adjustable.....which really isn't necessary but why not.

Thanks guys, yea its a Mline seat. They are good people. I am in Flushing Mi, we boat at Higgins Lake. I am now waiting on some graphics that I designed myself. It should really top off the look.
