Ok i checked the battery it is good, i checked all the wires they look good i sprayed a little WD on them all, checked all the fuses i could find but there might be some hiding.

All the doo does is click and buzz a little. So i dont know if it is the starter relay or is there something else i need to find.

i did flood it a bit not deep enough to the carbs, and i have had it out a couple of times since then with no problems. but i had to let it sit for about a month and now it does not want to start!

any help will be great!!!

thanks

More that likely you ate water. Pull the spark plugs and fire the engine.. A ton of water is gonna blow out..a month is a ton of time to wait as you should have shot all the water out instantly, pray the rust didnt mess your motor over.. if you have an air hose blow out the the chamber as much as you can and let it dry out.. put new spark plugs back in and pray it starts... it it will turn over for you that is making progress.. the reason you can hear clicks is becasue the starter is trying to turn it over but the water has the pistons so compressed they cant...

sorry i thought you said that the water did make it to the carb ... this still sounds more likely..

Things to check

your starter make be shot if its just clicking..
you impeller may be blocked not letting the engine turn
worst case the engine is seized.

ok i pulled the plugs and nothing still just clicked.

I have been looking for all of the fuses but all of them so far so good. i just cant get to the starter to jump it. is there an easy way?

also how can i see if the engine is seized? or is that a guessing game?

this is killing me at least my other skis is fine! :willy_nilly:

Can you turn the driveshaft by hand? If you can Jump your starter relay and motor turns then your relays bad if it doesnt your starter may be bad. If you cant turn it by hand then pull your plugs and try to turn it. I also had a problem where my starter got stuck in my flywheel and locked my engine and it just clicked so it could be that too.

Yup. Just like he said try to turn the PTO by hand. If it moves I would take the spark plugs out and try to spin it all the way over just to make sure there not any rough spots. If it spins freely then try to hot wire the starter bypassing the ignition system completely. Follow the red cable to the starter where it bolts on. Put your jumper cable there and find a good engine ground. Then connect your jumper cables to a charged battery. This should spin the motor over. If not check all connections maybe try a different ground and try again. If nothing then u need a new starter.

Good luck.

I have the same problem on a 1995 gtx. Starter solenoid just clicks. Have changed to a known good one ( removed and replaced on 2 skis - one always good - one always bad )- still just clicks. Installed a new starter - still just clicks. Can turn partially buy hand but cannot turn all way over.Pop a drinking straw in the cylinder and it clearly moves up and down - so not locked up. I'm a bout 15 hours of sweat and frustration in 100 degree weather over this. Is there anything i can do except put a match to it ?

With the plugs out you should be able to slowly turn the motor over by hand. If you can't something is binding up either in the motor or in the pump. See if you can work it back and forth until you can get it to spin all the way. If not you need to tear into it and find out what's wrong. Make sure there is nothing stuck in the jet.

Good luck.

Okay. Yep that's it. the shaft to the pump from the PTO is turning with the motor but the bearing is locked on the shaft and not spinning freely - it is turning with the shaft and twisting the sleeve if that makes sense.

Is this likely to be a big job?
