'99 gsx rfi help!!

So the last time I had the ski out last year it started out a bit rough (like something was caught in the impleller housing) but I couldn't see anything obviously wrong. I parked it for about an hour, restarted it and it ran beautifully! After a few hours of playing, I docked it, got the car and it wouldn't start...wouldn't crank even. I got it home and couldn't turn the PTO by hand with the plugs out either.

So this winter I tore her apart to do an inspect/rebuild of the top and bottom but all the bearings, pistons and crank looked like new. I also did a complete overhaul of the jet pump while I had it out. After reassembling the engine with all new seals, I put it back in the ski to find the same problem....no crank. At first it would rotate a few times, but now I've got nothing...can't even turn the crank by the PTO. On top of everything else, I've only got spark to one plug. I know I know....I'm screwed. Please help!

Its a bear, but pull the starter.

I proactively replaced the starter with a brand new one from SBT. No change..I also used my car (not running of course) to jump the battery and still nothing. I'll pull the starter again just to be sure there's nothing binding in the flywheel housing.

Any other takers???

Check the fuse in rear box and wipe out any moisture and dieletric gease the connections.
Take both the starter and battery to an auto parts store for a Free Load Test,
that should rule one or the other out. Bills86e

That sounds like a good start. I finally resolved my issue by replacing the battery and all cables and connectors before it would finally crank over and start. It actually got to the point where the engine appeared seized because the starter pinion gear remained engaged with the flywheel when I let off the start button. Now that it starts I'm working on my intermittent spark issue on one of the cylinders. Coil pack tested SAT so I hope I'm not looking at a failed MPEM. Oh and the RPM gauge works intermittent as well...I must have done something to piss her off.

Sounds like pick-up in stator or metal particles, Loosen front mount, wood block up engines to get in there. Consul your Best Friend, the SHOP MANUAL for the proceedure. Keep us up to date. Bills86e
