Hey guy's and Gals...I have been a long time snowmobiler and love Dootalk for this very reason. I just recently bought a 1999 1800 challenger and love it...but the fuel guage is not working. I saw that some of u guys have found a bad fues in the sending unit...so tonight i tried everything that was mentioned here. I have no resistence from the the pink/black pink wires on the plug...and so I cut opened the sending unit to uncover the circuit board where i foung that the R1 fues was still good and had continuity between the fues. this has me baffled, I also powered up the guage to check it ....It would not power up by just jumping the wires in the conector. When I checked voltage it was 10.8v. So I jumped it off the battery. The float was full of gas so i picked a small hole in it ...got rid of the gas and sealed it up...the magnets are in tacked and have lots of magnetism. Where should I go from here??? Thanks for any input!!

The gauges only work when the DESS is connected. If you don't start the boat, the gauges go off after 30 seconds even if the DESS is still connected. Power is supplied from the MPEM and only when the DESS is connected and registered.
If your battery is only putting out 10.8v, you need to charge/replace the battery. You need at least 11.8 volts and even that is low.
I would start by making sure you are getting a solid 12.5 volts out of the battery to the MPEM and to the gauges when the DESS is first connected.
