Hi there, Im new to this site hopefully it can become a good tool in figuring out my problem.

Well all started today i took my machine to the lake began riding for about 15 min till i fell off and had a rough time getting back on well long story short i couldnt get it started again it sounded like it was cranking but never turned over finally i thought it just killed the battery i figured i got water inside and the electrical pieces got wet..... So i got towed in and when i got it back on the trailer i opened the drain plugs and the entire inside was basically flooded filled with water...well i took it home pulled the battery charged it tried to start it then nothing.......

Now when i try to turn it over water pours out of the back sometimes, but its got to be inside the motor the hull is dry! Maybe the Starter?

Any help would be great, sorry for the long post....By the way i am new to jet skiing i just bought this 4 days ago!!!!!!:(

Thanks

Dude, sounds like you probably got water in it alright. You need to find out right away so that the inside of the motor will not rust. Pull the spark plug wires from the spark plugs and put them on the grounding post. Then pull the spark plugs and crank with them out. See if water shoots out of the spark plug holes. It will not hurt to spray bombardier lube or wd-40 into the spark plug holes. This will help lube and displace water so that it shoots out better. If water is present, keep cranking until it is all out. Then put a couple extra sprays of bombardier lube or wd-40 in the holes and put the spark plugs back in and see if it will crank. You will want to check the airbox and carbs to make sure they are clear of water too.

Don't worry too much about water coming out of the back through the exhaust. The exhaust holds a certain amount of water and will usually dispel some when trying to crank.

I'll try thathe motor in a few minutes, now is this a major problem and i messed up bad, or is this typical?

JJ's right do what he suggested and you should be fine as long as you do it right away. People flip their seadoos all the time and get water in them. Rotax engines are tough in this case.

This all depends on exactly how much water was actually in the hull and how you turned the Seadoo back up right if it turned over. If it turned over, you have to turn it back upright in the correct direction to make sure water does not leave the exhaust and enter the engine. There should be a sticker on the back of the Seadoo to show you the correct direction to roll it back over. If the sticker is gone, check your manual, but you usually want to roll it in the direction that would take the exhaust side down and under instead of over the top when flipping it back over. About the only other way water can get in the engine is if enough water got in the hull to reach the air intake.

If you did not turn it over, then you need to check for leaks as this much water should not be in the hull for an upright Seadoo. This may explain the reason you were having such trouble getting back on. The xp becomes even less stable with more water in the hull.

so far i pulled the plugs water came out a decent amount too, i think what happened was the drain plugs must have leaked water in i didnt flip over i partially just flopped off it must be that bc the hull is in good condition, ive gotten on and off sea doos before and never this much of a hastle, i think i need new drain plugs too.

So just for some step by step direction please, i already did what JJ has advised now i need to put them back in and try to crank over hopefuly it works.

What is the next step if i cant get it to turn over?

just go ahead and complete that. I think you'll be fine. However, if it doesn't then come back and tell us what it is or isn't doing. Like turning over but not firing, not turning over, etc.

No need for new drain plugs, just check the o-rings on them. They dry and get cracks in them after a while and sometimes fall off. If they are bad or gone, just replace the o-rings.

First off i really appreciate the help, you guys are amazing and gave great guidance.......well it fired up and is running strong again! I went and put new plugs in during the process just now and it seems good so far.

As for the drain plugs i did some investigation there and on both skis the o-rings were all gone none were there! no wonder why there was a ton of water in both of them..

I was so worried i messed these up i just got them 4 days ago, the 97 has only 4 original hours on it, and the 98 has 13 original hours on it...

The guy i bought them from hooked them up to the MMA computer and thats what the total engine hours meter read, so these as far as i know are like brand new. ill have to post a few picks up as soon as i can go out there and get them running.

Should i go to the dealer for the o rings or can they be bought from Advanced or somplace similar

Thanks again i appreciate the help so much

Great!!! :hurray: Glad you got it going! You can get the o-rings from any auto part store. Just make sure you get the right size for good seal.

I don't know how much you paid, but that sounds like a great find for the right price!!

Search around on the forum for threads that deal with things to do before using stored Seadoos.

Also, search around for threads dealing with "grey fuel lines". I know you don't want to hear news such as you'll find regarding that issue after you just bought these, but a little investment in time (or money if you have someone else do it) now will make these give you a long life of worry free service.
