Hey guys, I'm new here I just bought my first boat ever about 2 weeks ago, it is a 98 spx ( craigslist special) paid 850 rode it a few times seems to be in good shape. it has no problems starting up the first try when it is first put in the water but after I ride it and I give it a break and let it sit for about 10 min then I have to choke it and try ma few times to start it, I have a carb rebuild kit on the way. The engine also seems to run rough between off idle and 1/3 throttle the engine gets loud and it seems to vibrate a little more after that it will accelerate and ride from 1/3 throttle till 7/8 throttle like normal but at wot it will rev up but die out sporadically (not stalling, just cuts off and then revs right back) does anybody have any thoughts? I have not messed with the carbs yet but will take them off Friday and begin the rebuild process. Sorry for the long post.

Part 2, jet pump bearing need a rebuild bought a kit and wear ring (it was bad) that I will tackle tomorrow, any helpful advise? And I inspected the raves as the pto rave was spitting oil everywhere, I am not sure if the shaft is worn or whatever but the oring came apart in my hand when removing it hopefully the rebuild kit will take care of it but I have been reading horror stories of worn out raves snapping and destroying the cylinder and head, one thing that somewhat led me to beleive the rave was worn was that there are grooves/line worn into it and it seemed like the housing and shaft were loose and the it was quite dirty but not broken anywhere any thoughts on normal wear of a rave paddle?

Nice pick up! The 98 spx are awesome skis.

Does it still have the grey tempo lines in it? If it does you must replace those and fuel selector and clean the fuel selector and fuel/water separator and make sure o ring is good. The throttle issueS are most likely carb/fuel delivery related so sure the carb rebuild kits you ordered are genuine mikuni kits and get needle/seats.Don't use aftermarket they will give you problems.
