98 Sportster exhaust over heating

I have a 98 sportster 1800 that I ran in to sand back in August. Push out and as I head back to trailer, exhaust overheated and rubber hose burnt out. Just replaced hose this weekend and took it out yesterday. That engine has no power and new hose burnt out again and pipe gets very hot and has turned black and melted paint. What to do?

Check the cooling lines for a blockage.
