Ok, my troubles started when the sea-doo died in the middle of the lake. I was doing some wave hopping and when I stopped to speak to my buddy on his machine my machine stalled out and would not restart. Took it home and found that I had piston damage on one cylinder. This engine was rebuilt by a dealer a year and a half earlier with less than 50 hrs on it now. I pulled the head and the cylinders off and found that one of the wrist pin clips were missing but the evidence that the clip came off was evident. I went back to the dealer and they said it was past a year and they couldn't help me. So I had another technician rebuild it this time. After rebuilding it we tried to start it. It was only running on the front cylinder. Pulled the back plug, it had spark and was wet. Found out it was only wet with oil not fuel. Pulled the injectors and sure enough the injector was not working. Switched the leads to the injector and it works so the injector is ok. At this point I took it to the dealer for diagnosis. They cleared a high temp code and checked the computer which checked out fine. They ran new wires to the injectors but that didn't help. They changed the computer and the crank sensor and that didn't help.$400 later the sea-doo is still broken and the the dealer does't know why. Any ideas besides gasoline and a match?

Check the 1: compression 2: ignition with timing light 3: crank index (180*)
4: fuel pressure (59 psi)

what does it run like? will it idle?
rfi engines do drop a cylinder at a idle to conserve fuel
a brand new rfi sounds sick at a idle, its the way it is supposed to be
but what is yours doing?

It won't idle. Have to be on the throttle to keep it running and with giving it throttle it still only runs on one cylinder. Like I said even the dealer is stumped.

G o to auto zone and get two spark glass see-thru testers and put on each plug,
then you can see if you have an electrical problem. I had a BMW with similiar
charactoristics that stumped us, it was a bad fuel injector.

Injector is ok. When I changed the leads it will work.

was was the damage to the engine? what was rebuilt, replaced?
did anyone mess with the tps, or idle screw?
old rfi's shut down rear injector at idle, i assume that they did not check injector above a idle,i dont think you can fire the injector by the budds program on this model, i could be wrong , i will check
piggy back a small test light to rear injector and test run above a idle and see if the light comes on, did it? i think they call it a noid tester? 6volt minimum present at injector
while doing this use a timing light and see if spark is present at both plugs, again, above a idle.
if these test show good, maybe a bad crank seal??
pull pto cover off and look at rear seal to see if in place
maybe inner crank seal letting oil in rear cylinder??
keep us posted and good luck

same problem

hey, I have the exactly the same problem in a 99GTX RFI that I dropped a new motor in. Did you ever find an answer to why there is no signal to the rear injector ?

Limp mode...is described in your owners manual. You will need BUDS diagnostic
at the dealer or a Ski repair shop that uses the software program.
