I have gone through thread after thread about everyone's VTS issues. I can not seem to pinpoint my problem. The switch works, and the motor runs and the nozzle goes up and down no problem. I opened the cover to the VTS this weekend thinking i was going to get water pouring out like some say, but i have the new boot and clamps so i figured that would not be a problem. Anyway so now i am at a loss as to why when i hit the trim it starts to move up and then just drops back down :banghead: . Any ideas would really help.

I have a 1996 GSX and about 8 years ago the VTS digital display on the dash started displaying incorrectly.....the trim still went up and down but the display was not right. I took that thing apart 10 times and the display works by a magnetic pickup. The pickup failed for some reason and I cant have my stuff not working right! :ack: The VTS has a goop covered circuit board that you would need a wing and a prayer to get to. If I were you, I'd first make sure that your handle-bar mounted switch is not screwy, but if that is not the case, just purchase yourself a new VTS trim system. It is easy to put in and install and it will solve the issue as long as it is not switch or wiring TO the VTS.

Thank you for the info, Everything works fine, and i believe you are right that it is the magnetic pick up. I cant see how the switch is bad since the VTS operates with out a hitch. motor turns, jet nozzle goes up and down no problem. Just cant tell where i am at. But i will more than live with it before spending 150 on a new VTS. The market just does not allow for that. thank you again.

Ok, your posting was a little confusing because you said that yours will "fall back down" or something like that. I did not know what you meant. If your VTS works, you just dont know where you are, then you probably need a new VTS unit like I did. Have you tried looking on ebay? I remember back in 2001 I think I paid maybe 200 for mine from the dealer. I am much smarter now and savvy on the internet. I bet you might find a working unit on ebay for cheap. I hate it when my stuff does not work correctly!! Best of luck with it.

Ok, I now re-read...you meant that the bars on the indicator on your dash fall back down and not your actual jet nozzle. I'm with ya. I took mine apart and glued a bigger more powerful magnet in there....that worked for about a year and then I was having issues again. I think that some pickup must go bad in there and causes the indicator not to sense the magnet. That is all it is....BUT if it breaks you need a new one :reddevil:
