Hello guys I am a new member hope you can help. I have a 97 XP went out riding the other day ran great let a friend ride it came back not so great. The ski would not start I changed plugs on water, fired then nothing. Got it home when I would try to start it, it would fire from time to time, pull plugs and they have oil on them but do not really smell like gas. I have replaced all fuel line with black line, looked at both filters in carbs they are good the main filter is good, put a new fuel pump diaphram in, spark is good, put a shot of gas in each cylinder and it will fire, When trying to start you can smell gas like it is blowing it back out. compression was 160 in front 145 in back cylinder. had it running once and it smoked alot. I dont know if it means anything but I just bought the ski and dont know what oil he used but I had just put seadoo full synthetic in it that morning.

thanks for looking
any suggestions would be great thanks again

Have you tried cranking it with the fuel selector switch on reserve? If it cranks that way, you have a dirty fuel selector switch.

put it in self diagnostic mode by removing the lanyard and hitting the start botton 5 times and install the lanyard and hitting the start botton see if there are beeps, beeps are bad if there are repeat the steps and see if it has the same beeps. no beeps are good and the ski should start.

sorry it took so long to answer, I cant use diag. my beeper does not work. The ski will start but smoke bad, does not like to rev, pulled rave valve and the front cylinder was wet with oil. Is it possible for the pump to be supplying to much oil.
