My fuel gauge is the only gauge that doesn't work and I would like to get it working. I'm assuming it's the float and was going to replace it with a white one with the two magnets. But first, should I check the wires with an ohm meter and go through the steps? Do any of y'all have a link to a post explaining this for a 97 XP? Thanks in advance!

Here a couple links that will walk you through it -

I went ahead and bought the new float before I did anything - I think it was only $10 or so from the dealer. Main reason was that I wanted to be able to check everything at one time. I pulled the baffle out and tipped it back and forth while measuring the resistance to make sure the baffle was OK. I then plugged the gauge in (with the baffle still out) and tipped it back and forth again to make sure the gauge moved.

Do you think it could just be a blown f1 fuse? If so, where do I check it at?

Blown fuse I can't help you with. I only know how to fix things that have broken on my skis:). You could just take a paper clip and short the connector that goes to the gauge. It will read full of the gauge is working. This would tell you the problem is in the baffle, likely the float.

Im simply posting here so I can find this page again when I have the time to tackle this issue on my 97 GTS. Great info, thank you ;-)

I went and pulled my fuel sending unit opened the side up and took out the f1 fuse. I put it back together and it works just fine. If only the Vts was that easy to fix lol.
