97 Speedster tach runs backward

Hello All, I am searching for an answer! I have a 97 Speedster that runs like the wind. The only problem I have with it is the right tach does a wierd thing. It will operate pretty close to normal while idling or going slow in a no-wake zone, the minute I hit the throttle to plane....... the thing spins backwards about the same distance it would travel if I reved it up to five grand or so. It is only on the right tach, the left works fine. I am hoping it is something simple, but my experience with these kind of slectrical problems tells me it won't be. Any Ideas?

You can check the wire conections... but the Tach is probably on it's way out.
