Hi guys i am trying to find out if anyone has installed a stereo in a 97 speedster if they had any pics to share on speaker location and head unit location. Also does the 97 speedster have a charging system so when i install my stereo i dont kill my battery and is there any good places to ground/12v in the gauge area?

Thanks your stereo install looks good. Does anyone know where to get the power and ground from or do i have to go all the way back to the battery? Also does anyone know if a 97 speedster has a charging system on board?

Charging....?

All engines have a charging system. That is what keeps them going. Without the charging system, the ignitions would not be able to provide spark. Some engines, like a lawnmower, does not charge a battery, but is has a magneto that provides power to the ignition system.

All Rotax engines in the Seadoo's from the 587cc to the 1403cc have a charging system that provides power to the battery and electronics.

Most of the boats have an accessory power supply under the storage compartment up front. The power wire is usually the color "purple" and the ground of course is black. Depending on what type stereo system you are looking to install, will determine where you want to pull your power from.

I'd also point out that if you put a high power system in place, you add an additional battery and Perko battery switch to isolate it from your motor when your sitting on a sand bar, listening to your tunes. That way, you won't come back to a dead battery when it's time to crank up..........

Like "snipe" said, How big of a system do you plan on having ? Thats going to determine where you are going to hook up the power & ground. If you plan on a amp in your system then I strongly suggest "like snipe said" you have a auxilary battery with a Perko battery switch to isolate it from your starter battery

Then put in an auxilary battery with a Perko battery switch to isolate it from your starter battery. Do it the right way now, then you dont have to do it later.

I totally agree with the others. The power wires you can tap into up front will work fine for the radio, but no way would they work for an amp. You would likely fry the whole boat. If you wanna add an amp, mount an extra battery in the rear and add the switch. It is actually fairly easy to do all the work

When I did my radio I found the wires were already installed in the boat. Power and Ground even found the speaker wires in the wall right behind the driver and passenger seat. It helps to have the manual it will tell you everything from wire color to which fuse to use. If you havent bought speakers yet you should check out MTX componet speakers 5.5 and a seaperate tweeter w/ crossover sounds great! Also dont get a head unit that has to be placed in a watertight encloser get one that has a seaperate waterproof faceplate that you can mount on the dash and the inner working mount inside the storage compartment.
