97 speedster start/rev issue

Hello all,

I'm nearly complete with my 97 speedster project initial fixes (or so I thought). Had the boat on the water this week. Both engines started right up and idled correctly at 1500 rpm. The left engine would bog immediately when advancing the throttle (in neutral). By playing with the throttle, I could sometimes get it past the bog to higher revs. When I took the boat out into the cove, it seemed to respond normally. I ran the boat around for maybe 3 minutes (engines were warm from about 10 minutes on the trailer) and the right motor quit at about 4500 rpm. It cranked over, but wouldn't fire up. I checked the plugs and they are not fouled. I limped the boat back to the trailer and brought it home. I took the carbs off and double checked the pop-off pressure and internal filters. One of the carbs had an abnormally high pop-off (@55psi) and I cut a round and a half off the spring it is now at 32. In the process of checking the left carb, I found that the accelerator pump nipple at the intake was blocked. I figure that's the bogging problem, right? Carbs are back on and just went to try and test the boat on the hose and the port (formerly bogging motor) fired up, but idled at 1500 instead of 3000, but responded normally to throttle movements, as if it were in the water. That's minor problem #1. The starboard motor cranks over and idles briefly (like maybe 10-15 seconds) and then dies. Advancing the throttle does not help. This is not-so-minor problem #2. My gameplan is to take the intake boxes off, check the butterfly positions relative to the idle speed screws and double check that I hooked the fuel hoses up correctly to the right side carb. I'm praying that there is not a spark problem. I'm open to further troubleshooting advice...

Thanks all - I've learned a lot on this site.

not fuel delivery problem

Well with the airbox off, I can see the accelerator squirt a little stream of fuel down the intake and the fuel lines are hooked up correctly. I fear spark is my only alternative. The engine will fire up and run for about 4 seconds then cuts off. I'm gonna snip some spark plug cap wire first, but I'm not too optimistic. How do you isolate a spark fault? I snipped the plug cap wires. It'll run a little bit but I think only one cylinder is getting spark. The PTO side spark plug is wet after it runs and the mag side is dry. Is this good logic?
