97 speedster neutral switch problem help pleeease

Hi i have a 1997 speedster and could not get the 2 beeps i got 4, i checked my workshop manual and this said it was not in neutral, i checked switch and did not seem to be working. i bypassed this switch and it started straight away, i took it out today and it fired up perfectly(considering its been laid up all winter winterized of course) when i opened throttles up both engines went to 3500 rpm on the restricter i believe.
does anyone know if i have to replace the switch to get this to work or could it be something else? all your advice is appreciated thx jason

Gonna have to kick out the 78 bucks for a new one, no way around it. Unless you wire up some type of manual switch by the controls. Kind of ghetto though.
