I have a 97 speedster twin 720's single carbs. Port motor runs fine. Starboard motor runs fine at higher rpms but stumbles nearing idle and dies (or chugs at 500 rpms on the mag cyl only). Same result when I reverse plug wires. The lowest stable idle rpm I can achieve is 3K out of water. Compression is 130X4 on my gauge. Carb rebuilt. What am I missing.

Your trailor rpm should be 3000,,,and in the water,,,1500 I believe..it sounds like fuel delivery,,,usually internal carb issues,,,is the air cleaner/flame arrestor clean...that would make it run rich,,,does the choke fully release,,,did you cut the plug wires back ...perhaps a leaking needle and seat,,,pull the carbs again...and start from scratch,,,check popoff on both,,,and of course at the same time,,,look, for leaks,,,at the needle and seat.
