hey guys im new to the site but see you all know alot! i just picked up a 97 seadoo xp with the 787 motor in it, their were 3 broken head bolts in it and i pulled the cylinders off and found out my topend was bad so i had a mechine shop pull the bolts and bore the cylinders for my new wsm topend. was going to put it together and decited to split the cases and found out my crank has two bad bearings and the rods move a little too much. i found a guy who has a used crank for sale he wants 200 and i can get it for 150 if i get it tommrow. he said its a sbt crank. was wondering if it would be ok to put a used crank from another motor into my ski?
thanks

I did just that. I bought a used crank from the shop that sold me my top end kit. I just got it together and ran it this weekend, ran awesome.

Others on this site told me a used crank was a solution to the price of a reman or oem. My cost me $160 so yours sounds like a good deal. The one I bought was also an SBT. It was welded by them, so that is the reason I went with it.

Hope this helps, and good luck on the rebuild!

thanks for the help, i think im gonna pick it up tommrow ill just take mine with me to make sure its the right one

big...depend'n on how big you go, with the bore, you'll need to shave the raves (under the black caps) for clearance of piston

ya im shaving them down tommrow i had to do the same thing with my dirtbike. im going to a 1mill over piston

is their anything else i should maybe replace while i have it apart. i just got the crank seals on friday, got the pistons and gaskets, gonna get my new used crank tommrow. what kind of oil should i run in it?

1oz of 30wt in the C/B cavity. Run synthetic, if using the oil injection, will be less build-up on the raves. I'd soak the crank in premix/injection oil, just to help the lubing of everything.

i have the block off injection. so i just mix 3oz to a gallon of gas and what oil should i put in that tank? is that tank also used to lube the bottom end?

Check your counter balance shaft over good.

Mine had one iffy bearing, and the two rubber seals on the shaft, one was pretty loose.

SBT had a reman for $59 bucks, best I could find, so I put it in while I had the case split. Good insurance if you ask me.

Go over the sequence for torquing the case back together, and the head for that matter. I had to get a 1/2 torque wrench to go down to 9 flbs and then 17 flbs. (foot pounds) Kinda weird if used to just torquing everything one time. (worked a tire store for a couple of years, torquing down wheels when done)
