Ok so here's my issues I have a 97 gsx runs perfect. This year for very first time very rarely will instantly cut off when I land hard off of a wave. I am almost positive it is electrical because the screen instantly shuts off (clock and all) and when I go to restart it pops a little from the extra fuel in cylinder I don't need to remove key I can just hit start again and it fires right up runs fine. It is not on every hard wave just sometimes. I am obviously going to check over all my connections I was just curious if any one had any experience ideas to help me find this intermittent problem faster. I can't recall I'm not near ski but I thought even if ski shut off the clock would stay on for a bit, unless of course it's electrical issue. Thank you for any ideas

I did mess with it and realized that when you press stop the LCD does normally shut off completely at least it seems to on mine.

Sounds electrical. It could be a lot of places though. Stop switch, dess post, grounds, hot leads. Just keep jumping it and it will eventually get so bad that you will be able to find it...

Sounds electrical, however a similar symptom on my old 99 GTX was that the engine would slow when landing off a wave... turns out the exhaust was shooting water into the intake... engine exploded about a season later.

yes to the above, seems electrical, start with the obvious like the battery post screws, and work your way around checking for loose connections with a good flashlight.

if its from electrical power loss, the mpem will give you two beeps again when it comes back on, if its a short in the start/stop wiring, it'll just fire right back up like you said.

had a similar thing happen to me when the crap walmart battery quit when i landed off a wave. whole ski went dead and before it stopped i got "beep beep", but any load, even the vts would kill it again. had to get towed back to the ramp.
