Ive recently purchased a seadoo gsi from someone here in town, i got it not running with a trailer for a very good price. all that it needed was a new mpem and key=). On my first outting i found that when you stab the gas it hits the limiter very fast, but it doesnt get out of the water as fast as its reving. my buddy has two gti's and he beats me out of the water, but we both do the same top speed. would this be an impeller, or wear ring, or both??

Read you manual on proceedure how to check wear-ring clearance. .008 is good,
.040 is bad. If you've gotten water in ski AFTER running, the carbon ring probly got
hot from backflushing too long, and warped, leaking air in. Bills86e

backflushing is running it on the hose in your driveway. the drivetrain doesn't get sufficient cooling when doing this so you should only do it for a couple minutes at a time.

you won't get water in the hull, it suck air from the hull through the seal.

pull the pump first, it will probably be obvious what is bad if you're cavitating that badly.
