Just bought a 97 GTX 787 (dual carb) and working to get it back on the water. Compression is 115 to 120 on both cylinders. Took the readings with two gauges and both read close to the same range ie nothing below 115 and nothing above 125.
It starts one time (garage), Does not rev well at all. throttle resp is bad. After shutting off, it will not restart without drying out (assume flooding, plugs are wet), then will restart. PO says he just overhauled carbs.
So, I planned on going back thru the carbs and cleaning Raves, but needed advise on whether I should just go ahead and pull the top end based on the comp readings??
