It you plug your lanyard on and the motor still starts, then the lanyard is communicating with your MPEM. The problem is likely going to be a bad beeper.

You can get any type 12 volt test light or beeper and connect to it to test it. If you need a replacement, you can get one at your local Radio Shack.
