97 GTX RPM Issues

I have a 97 GTX. When operating it revs to 5200 right away, and is responsive. When giving it full throttle it is real lazy getting to 6500. I have to pump the throttle to get it to 6500, or if you are hitting waves it will quickly rev. When it gets to 6500 it will hold that rpm. I cleaned the carbs, rave valves, and water regulator. Any other ideas?

The fuel lines feel good, not stiff, how would this impact rpm? I do think this is a carburation / fuel starving situation.

Thanks

Grey Fuel Lines

The original grey (Tempo) fuel lines were made of two materials laminated together with an adhesive. After time 2-3years the adhesive breaks down and makes a green goo that goes everywhere in the fuel delivery system. The end result is the engine runs too lean because it is starving for gas.

The cure is to replace the grey fuel lines with 1/4" black automotive hose. You will need 20-25' depending on if you replace the vent hose, and about 20 stainless steel clamps. Just replace 1 hose at a time following the original route.

You will also need to clean or replace the main fuel filter and 2 carb. filters, 1 in each carb. Also you will need to clean or replace (I strongly recommend replacing), the fuel selector valve.

Grey Fuel Lines

Thanks for your help. When i cleaned the carbs there was gunk in the filters. After I did that the PWC would run and hold rpm at WOT. Initally it wouldnt. Now the issue is just lazy getting to max rpm. I will replace. Thanks again.
