OK So I've been messing with my girlfriend's jet ski that has been sitting.

here's a link to whats been going on previously http://seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=19494

so far I have replaced all fuel lines
cleaned selector valve and fuel filter
rebuilt carbs
replaced oil and gas and plugs
trimmed wire 1/4"
replaced battery
replaced solenoid

OK...so now...I'm not getting a spark. I'm not even sure if I was before. BUT I guess I had my finger a bit too close to the actual plug when checking for spark because it shocked the crap outta me!

I've read where a lot of people say replace the MPEM...is this what I'm gonna have to do?? THanks....

same here

I'm having similar problem with 96 xp. got it free from a neighbor and it ran but wouldn't get up and go. Did all the gunked up fuel lines, filters, rebuilt carbs and now it won't start at all. I don't think I'm getting spark. Key switch--is that the mpem?--is acting weird. Sometimes works, sometimes wont' but will after you take off and put back on. Also just replaced battery, but starter still hesitates.

I have no idea if the key switch is the mpem?! haha. I'm so frustrated with this! I miss having a jet ski! and sucks even more after sinking acouple hundred into her and then still nothing....why oh why did they hvae to let a perfectly good ski just sit for 2 years and rot?!?!?!?!?! :banghead::mad:

is the plug wet with after cranking, you say you got spark if the plug is wet you should have fire.. have you tried pouring a little gas in the plug hole and giving her a go ?

I have tried alil gas down the plug hole and got nothing. I'm going to replace the plugs and gap and try again when I get the chance. They were not showing a spark, or if they were, it was definitely too weak to notice...But the fact that I got the crap shocked outta me, makes me think faulty plugs now that I have "calmed down" haha. I was so frustrated the other day that I didn't really think about new plugs :p

getting spark now

I'm getting a spark now and it wants to start but the battery needs a charge (I think my charger was bad--got another one hooked up). Part of the problem is that I think once you put the key switch on you need to wait for the lights on the dash to run through the diagnostic sequence. Hitting start before that's done seems to really make it unhappy--hence the no spark I experienced. So I'm going to try it tonight with a charged batter.
