Hi guys,

Neighbour (UK here) has a Seadoo with no spark.

I have done a resistance test on the trigger coil and that looks fine (247 ohms). I put it on my scope and it seems to be sending trigger signals but they are a bit flakey.

I then put the scope on the White wire from the computer unit to the coil. This is sending trigger signals but at a very low voltage. Any idea what voltage tests signals should be?

Finally, is there anything I can do to the coil to try to get a spark at the plugs? I know that on some engines I could just touch a 12v supply to the coil and it would spark. I don't know about this one though.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Jack

Have you thoroughly checked all electrical connections for any corrosion? I believe the white wire into the rear electric box is the electric to the ignition coil.....make sure all connections are super clean.

I'm gonna go back to these pictures again. this is the coils inside the housing and your trigger coil. It can get debris on it which will prevent it from triggering properly but you will get good readings because it isn't broke. The information you will get will be corrupted.

That's brilliant thanks. I've taken it apart and it looks good but covered with bits and pieces. I'll clean it off and reassemble. Hopefully that will make a difference!

Thanks

Do you have both wires hooked to the negative post back at the battery?

I have the same machine and had the smaller wire at the battery break off giving me a no spark condition.

I guess if you fight long enough and hard enough to solve a problem people think you are smart and you know your stuff.. LOL There is always something waiting to beat your azz around the next corner and make a jackazz out of you. Ha ha. Lots of help here guided me through the process and i just try to give a little back. The support here has meant so much to me and I can't thank everyone enough. New issues every day and new challenges. Touchdowns everyone !!

That isn't red paint on there that is Glyptal insulating enamel. I did this with the engine in place on a 1996 GTX. It was difficult. LOL Good luck.

I feel the need to share and riterate something about these skis from my experience. I talk to them while I work on them and something that gets repeated always and often. "You sneaky.... bastard" that is what they freakin are. LOL
