I have a 97 GTI with the 717 engine. The fuel lines have all been replaced since we got it. It will start up with no problem in or out of the water but when in the water right after you start it and apply the throttle it bogs down and stalls. I have to let it run for a minute then feather the throttle a little at a time until all the sudden it wakes up and takes off. Once it takes off it seams to run fine top speed about 50 mph (what the speedo say's), and I can turn it off then back on with no issue unless it sits for 10 min or so. Then its back to the start again. Any idea's?

Is the ski cavitating? If it were a car does it feel like the clutch is slipping?

If this is happening you probably need a new wear ring. Check the wear ring for missing pieces and check the clearance between the wear ring and impeller, it should be no more than .040". While you are there check the impeller for damage, dings, dents.

It doesnt feel like its slipping, just bogging down when the throttle is opened a little. I will have to check that out though just in case.

Grey Fuel Lines

When you replaced the grey fuel lines did you replace the main filter and the 2 carb. filters? Did you replace the fuel selector?

I am not sure if the filters got replaced or not someone else did the lines. I have heard about the fuel selector before what does changing it do?

New are now plastic, as the original ones were aluminum and they corroded & clogged the fuel suction from carbs, made engines run lean & sieze. Bill
