So my 96 gti dumped the pto cylinder last Sunday. I leave on vacation in 2 weeks, so instead of trying to rush a repair I picked up a almost perfect 97 gti. I just gave it a quick shake down run and it has a slight bog off idle and again at wot. I can work through both by feathering the throttle for the low speed and by easing into wot. The ski still has the dreaded grey fuel lines and the guy I purchased it from said a ski shop removed the small filter in the carb and replaced with a inline filter. I’m thinking replace fuel lines, kit the carb replace the filter in front of ski and reinstall the small filter. Maybe replace the selector valve to be safe. Any other thoughts? Ski has good compression.

That’s exactly what you should do.
You can order everything from OSD Seadoo.

So I’m not sure if this carb has ever had a kit. Osd makes a back to oem kit that looks like it includes everything. I can even add the selector valve with the kit. Kit says that you won’t even have to check pop off as they are all factory parts. I am an auto mechanic by trade but honestly I’ve never been a carb guy. I plan on using your carb thread to to letter. Does this sound like the kit to get?

Yes but I like to replace the strainer also for $20 it eliminates another air leak.

What size jis screwdriver will I need? Looks like there are more than 1 size.

I just slightly grind the tip of a #2, it won't bottom out and gets a good bite. Or just buy a JIS screwdriver. Once I get the screws out, stripped or not, I go back in with SS allen head screws. About $8 shipped for an entire set for a carb, search ebay you'll find it.
