I have a 97 gsx that ran great all day as i was taking it back to the dock it died. I towed it in and there was no power at all. When I got it home I found that the ground had come off the starter. put it back on and still nothing. followed the troubleshooting from another post here and found the 5 amp fuse was blown, replaced it, still no power. tested the post and the start switch every thing was fine. I have a ski that wont chirp when you plug in the key or when you press the start stop 5 times you get nothing. all fuses in the front are good and fuse in the back is good. can someone please help.

the fuse in back, you mean the one in rear ebox...15amp/20amp?

You try new battery?

yes the 15 amp in the box by the battery. the battery is brand new and show full charge. I have test and have power going into the MPEM and have power coming out to the rectifier.

not sure on that model, but at the (-) side of battery, off the rear ebox, is there a black wire, that needs hooked up to neg post, as well?

no the negative post goes to the bottom of the starter only according to the wiring diagram.

correct, but is there a black "loomed" wire, from atop the rear ebox. That also needs connected to the neg post of battery.

No loomed wire

I also have a 97 GSX and I don't remember seeing a loomed wire on mine. I'll watch this post to see if maybe I'm missing something, as I am also having some similiar issues. Thanks guys.

you double check the fuses up front?

I got a 96/97gtx mpem, that, hate to say it, same condition as yours....no blown fuses, but doesnt work...
