97 GSX (no activity on fuel gauge, beeper works one day then not the other)??

I have a 97 GSX that has a inop fuel gauge. It shows nothing and never shows any bars. Even when i plug the DESS lanyard on all the other guages do a check for a few seconds but the gas guage does nothing. Makes me think its not getting power??? Is there a fuel for power just to the fuel guage part? Also when i bought the ski the beeper worked then it didnt work the next few times i took it out. For awhile when i put my ear by it i could hear a faint beep beep when plugging it in but after the last time i took it out it worked for awhile and now i get nothing, just the guages reseting but no beep beep, im guessing its just the beeper?

I think that would be a safe assumption, but also check the wiring. As far as the fuel gauge, those go bad all the time. It's called a fuel sending unit. They are easy to test, search the forums for instructions.

i also have the 97 gsx and fuel sending unit went bad, to test i pulled the connector off the fuel sending unit, black and pink wires and jumped out with short piece of wire and then had full bars on gas gauge telling me it was the sending unit, the floats go bad and sometimes the magnets fall out of float
