Fixed it with reading alot of post just giving a thanks to all. 97 Gsx Limited was rattleing alot and had a rubber smell to it. I checked the rear everyone was saying there loud so took the drive shaft out and cranked it had same rattle and smell. Pulled the engine and was looking at it everthing seemed ok. Then turned out when I split the case the balancing shaft bearing were frozen and cracked the case. I have a friend that's a SBT dealer and he was able to get the shaft with bearings etc for less than the bearing would cost. So I have another friend who is a very good welder and he welds tranmission cases up etc. So I had him fix my crack in the case. Put the new balance shaft in and have run it a few weekends no problems. I have had it since it was new and have only run the seadoo oil etc in it. I also use to get it serviced at dealer up untill about 2000. The dealer had never mentioned that extra compartment for oil for the shaft and I had never checked it before. Is this something I should add to yearly service? I only had 416 hours on it. I figure thats about avarage for a 97 or maybe less than adverage. The only other things I have done to it was wear rings and a starter. The bearing that hold the shaft in place are sealed bearings so I don't see how oil could get to them. The way there made i would expect them to fail eventually.
