i just pulled both carbs and went thru everything. looked fine to me. i found one little speck of debri inside, not really much too be concerned with though.

it seemed to be running better with gunked up RAVE valves and a blown out water regulator.

i'm at my wits end. :willy_nilly:

it's supposed to be in the 100's today.

i did not pressure check my carbs. they were bright, clean and shiny on the inside. looked brand new. no gunk or corrosion.

took her out for the day yesterday. she runs PERFECT, except for the fact that she won't top out. she pops right up and goes. i can dive into a turn spin it 180 and throttle out while still staying hooked up. she's got a lot of bite and some nice get go. just doesn't want to max out on the rpm's.

i was smashing against some choppy water yesterday. skipping over the waves i was hitting 6400 - 6800 rpms. as soon as the water smooths out she drops back down to 5800.

maybe my tachometer is broken. lol

still considering waxing the hull. lol

i prefer the bottom end advantage over top speed, but i still think something is wrong.

do i win a prize for stumping the forum?

i'm just not gonna race anyone anymore. :boxing_smiley:

but i will out trick them.

it sure sounds like what mine did when I put in a rave valve backwards. they went in fine just wouldn't go.

i keep thinking that same thing. seems to be when my problem started.

i put them in with the word "TOP" facing the plugs.

Two things, check the separator cup cap for a crack and grease the square O-ring.
Could be getting air in fuel supply. Feel the supply fuel line connections and tighten
if needed, and the pulse line from engine case to carb fuel pump. You should check the pop-off of each carb (if duals) and Sync.

my high speed screws have the caps on them and were turned all the way to the right. which would be backed out. i turned them both inward. all the way to the left, which was about a 1/4 turn. i will try it again tomorrow.

seems somewhat better since i adjusted the high speed screws. runs in the low 6000's now. most of the time. i need to check the low speed now.

while looking things over the other day i noticed water wasn't coming out of my pee hole when i was on the hose. i looked at it while running on the water and still nothing coming out of my pee hole. so when i got home last night i pulled the end of the hose off the exhaust and tried to blow thru my pee hole. nothing. full seal. so i put that end back on and pulled it off at the pee hole fitting and blow backwards thru it. it was clear. hmmmmmm, ........... took a piece of stiff wire and pushed it backwards thru my pee hole. i 1/4" piece of twig was lodged in there. my pee hole was blocked.

i having a feeling the blocked pee hole might be the gremlin. my exhaust pipe looks like it has been getting warm. the paint is discoloring to a brownish tan color. i have felt it while running and it isn't "hot" but it is really warm. i'm thinking this is because of my blocked pee hole. i'm gonna try to make it back out today.

still can't run at over 6000 rpms. can't get up to 50 mph when i was running at 65 two months ago. gonna tear the exhaust system down now.:confused:

fixed it!!!!!! :hurray::hurray::hurray:

3 things i did:

when i put the new exhaust hose in i used a screwdriver to tighten the hose clamp. when i checked it yesterday i noticed it felt loose. i used a wrench on it and got it torqued down. i may have been loosing exhaust pressure here.

when i rebuilt my water regulator there was a broken spring and 2 washers in it. i replaced them with a new spring. yesterday i put the broken spring and 2 washers back in it. i'm not sure why it was like this in the first place. this may or may not have been my problem. i will take a new spring with me next time i go out and try both to see if there is any difference.

i washed her with soap and water, top and bottom.

i'm not sure which one of these 3 things fixed her, but this is what i did this last time i went thru it. she pops right up and accelerates smoothly. all the way to the upper 50's. tach is at 6500 at WOT. i think i can go back now and actually start fine tuning it to bring up my tach and top speed a little.
