97 gsx 800 issues

Hey guys i recently purchased a used 97 gsx 800 and i just replaced the oil pump and a few other parts,its running good and on the last ride i blew a hole in the exhaust hose that connects the pipe and muffler on the side.It is a small rubber hose about 3" long.I replaced the hose and today after an hour of riding i blew a hole in the new hose,what could be causing this to keep happening...thxs

Either go new or repair that one depending on the damage.

I've been able to repair a few of them. Usually its just the diapham that gets punctured by the lower clamp rusting away and replacing that fixes the issue. But sometimes the core of the unit gets pushed up and that blocks the outflow port so that no water goes to the pipe and that's what causes the overheated hose.

My fix has been to remove the center core and put an O-ring in the center groove. Then squeeze the core back in. Its a tight fit and usually works fine after that.
